Start with Antwerpen-Centraal

For many first-time visitors, Antwerpen-Centraal is both the arrival point and the most logical place to leave a bag while exploring the Meir, cathedral quarter and Scheldt waterfront. The official SNCB/NMBS network also offers lockers at Antwerpen-Berchem, which may be more useful if your train and hotel route take you through that station.

The best storage point is almost always the one that makes collection before departure easy. Antwerp is a city with several distinct visitor districts: you don't want to spend your final hour travelling from the riverfront to a bag you left on the wrong side of town.

Official SNCB luggage lockers: current price guide

The railway operator lists locker prices by physical compartment size. The published minimum rental is one day, even for a few hours' visit.

Size

Internal dimensions (cm)

Daily price

S

14 × 23 × 60

€5.00

M

19 × 30 × 60

€7.00

L

44 × 34 × 60

€9.50

XL

58 × 50 × 80

€11.50

XXL

89 × 50 × 80

€14.50

The name of the size is a guide only. Measure your largest bag, especially for hard-sided luggage, strollers or instruments. If two smaller bags fit one large compartment, compare that total with renting two lockers.

Booking and opening rules

The SNCB says lockers can be rented directly at participating stations or booked online. A detail worth planning around: the rental ends when you open the locker. If you need something during the day, take it out before storing your bag. Overrunning the paid duration may mean an extra fee; confirm the current conditions when you book.

If your visit depends on a specific locker size, book ahead rather than assuming one will be free. Check the station's current access arrangements for early departures and late arrivals.

Central versus Berchem

Antwerpen-Centraal: ideal when your train starts or ends there and your day will be spent around Meir, Grote Markt, museums or the river. You can leave the station unencumbered and walk west or take a tram.

Antwerpen-Berchem: may be the more sensible choice when your accommodation, meeting or train journey already passes through Berchem. Don't detour to it merely because it may have space: calculate the time needed to reach it at the end of the day.

For visitors exploring Eilandje or Het Zuid, neither station is right beside the main museum sights. The storage decision should therefore consider how you plan to get there by De Lijn and where the return trip begins.

Are private luggage counters better?

They can be, especially if the official station lockers are full or the storage point is close to your accommodation. But private networks often use shops, hotels or other partner businesses whose individual opening hours control pickup. Check the precise address, whether the fee is per item, any unusual-size supplements, cancellation arrangements and coverage limits.

No particular Bounce, Radical Storage or other private location has been verified for this article yet; we therefore avoid pretending there is a guaranteed, affiliate-bookable location near the cathedral or MAS.

A good plan for a day in Antwerp

Store your bag at the station you will use on departure, enjoy the Central Station and walk via Meir into the old city. Add one museum if time allows, and build in a generous return window for retrieving luggage before the train. For an overnight stay, first ask your hotel whether complimentary bag storage is available.
